… Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this
evening…

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this
evening.

The Winter Storm Warning covers most of Rhode Island and much of
interior southeast Massachusetts. This includes the following
cities and towns… Foxboro… Norwood… Boston… Quincy…
Taunton… Brockton… Foster… Smithfield… Providence… West
Greenwich… Warwick… Narragansett… westerly.

Snow will continue to fall this morning into early this
afternoon… and will be locally heavy at times… with snowfall
rates of up to one inch per hour expected through 1 PM. Snow will
then taper off to flurries between 1 PM and 4 PM. Total snowfall is
expected to range from 5 to 8 inches. The snow may become wet and
heavy… especially near the coast. This may allow for some isolated
tree limb breakage and some local power outages. Very slippery travel
is expected today.

A Winter Storm Warning is issued when an average of 6 or more
inches of snow is expected in a 12 hour period… or for 8 or more
inches in a 24 hour period. Travel will be slow at best on well
treated surfaces… and quite difficult on any unplowed or
untreated surfaces.
