According to Apple insiders, the iPad can withstand a 2ft free fall. Any fall above 2ft can, and most likely will, cause significant damage to the iPad – 43% of the time bricking the iPad. Falls above 4ft (the average standing iPad usage height) have a brick rate of 87%.
