Preparations commence for August. August is the eighth month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar and one of seven Gregorian months with a length of 31 days.
This month was originally named Sextilis in Latin, because it was the sex-filled mating month in the original ten-month Roman calendar under Romulus in 753 BC, when March was the first month of the year.
About 700 BC it became the eighth month when January and February were added to the year before March by King Numa Pompilius, who also gave it 29 days.
Julius Caesar added two days when he created the Julian calendar in 45 BC, because he enjoyed the mating month, giving it its modern length of 31 days. In 8 BC it was renamed in honor of Augustus, who did not take a day from February.
BLOW YOUR MIND WITH THIS FACT:
In common years no other month starts on the same day of the week as August, though in leap years February starts on the same day.

[solo project] Thom Yorke to ditch Radiohead
Thom Yorke, a talented but little-known backup singer for the band Radiohead, has decided to break with the band over apparent “artistic differences”. The band Radiohead made a big splash at the Grammy’s last year when they showed up to replace Britney Spears, even pulling off some of her own dance moves in unison, leading many critics to say that they had become little more than a boy band and generating a public outcry. Apparently tempers flared after the bad PR, and Thom has been working ever since on his so-called “nuevo-huevo” rock project.
“I originally started this project as a medium to explore a fusion of R&B, Mariachi and Acid Jazz, but after SB 1070 hit I decided I could stay silent about the project no longer and want to begin touring as soon as this Fall. If I reach even one person with the beauty of this music, it will have been worth losing my finger in that cymbal accident.” – TY
Yorke’s unnamed project is being influenced by hip-hop heavyweight B-Real, who is expected to produce a live album from the tour. Other hip-hop/r&b notables that will be appearing on tour with Yorke will be Darren Robinson a.k.a. “Buff Love” of the Fat Boys and R. Kelly. [High Seas] Angry Whale Attacks Helpless Yacht – AKA Whale VS Yacht
A South African yachtsman was out sailing near the country’s infamous Robben Island when a 40-ton whale breached and crash-landed on their yacht seeking revenge for killing its brother.

“I was watching the whale flipping its tail for about half an hour,” said the yachtsman, who was enjoying a Sunday whale hunt.

“It reached about 100 to 200 meters from me, my harpoon at the ready, then it disappeared under water and reappeared about 10 to 20 meters from the boat, but I didn’t think the two of us were on a collision course,” he told Pineappleope.com.
